ConnecTite®
ASME A112.4.4:
Plastic Push-Fit Drain, Waste, and Vent (DWV) Fittings
Scope:
This standard covers reversible push-fit drain, waste, and vent fittings intended for quick assembly of IPS schedule 40 series PVC and ABS DWV plastic pipe and fittings for applications above- and belowground operating at temperatures between 32 F (0 C) and 140 F (60 C) and specifies requirements for materials, physical characteristics, performance testing, and markings.
Features
ConnecTite fittings are the first DWV push-fit fittings on the market. Featuring a patented lock ring and seal, they give users a reliable connection with the added ability to reposition, remove, and reinsert if necessary. There is no need for solvent cement or primer, making it mess free and more environmentally friendly and eliminating cure time.
These benefits make ConnecTite ideal for repair, remodel, and service plumbers, as well as DIYers. ConnecTite is compatible with both PVC and ABS DWV systems.
Features
Unique, Patented, Reliable Connection
Easier, Faster Installation
ConnecTite joints are over 20 times faster to install than a solvent cement joint. Thanks largely to the market’s familiarity with push-fit pressure fittings, the installation is rather intuitive.
Less Downtime
ConnecTite fittings have no cure time. In comparison, a 2-inch solvent cement joint has a minimum cure time of two hours before it should be tested.
This allows a DIYer to quickly complete their DWV project with ConnecTite fittings and then spend their time doing something more enjoyable.
For a repair plumber, they can move on to their next customer in a fraction of the time, thereby increasing their revenue.
No Solvent Cement or Primer
- Is better for human health and safety
- Is more environmentally friendly — ConnecTite contains no VOCs.
- Eliminates confusion over which solvent cement to use
- Eliminates the hazardous waste disposal of out-of-date cans of cement and primer
- Causes no mess — spilling purple primer is almost inevitable, especially for a DIYer. When this happens, there is no way to clean it up. This is of particular concern if you are making a solvent cement joint in a finished area.
Can Be Repositioned
With a ConnecTite fitting, you can simply twist the fitting into proper alignment.
This is helpful when you are using a fitting with a bend (90-Degree Elbow, 45-Degree Elbow, or Sanitary Tee).
If you have a misaligned fitting with solvent cement, the only option you have is to cut out the joint and start completely over.
Reversible & Reusable
If pipe is cut too short or too long, you can remove the pipe from the ConnecTite fitting, cut your pipe to the correct length, and then reuse the same ConnecTite fitting up to three times.
Again, with solvent cement, your only option is to cut out the joint and start completely over.
Compatible With Both PVC and ABS
ConnecTite fittings can be used as a transition fitting as it works with Schedule 40 OD plastic pipe.
Does Not Require Any Tools
Unlike push-fit pressure fittings, ConnecTite fittings do not require a tool for reversal.
Standard DWV Diameter
ConnecTite fittings will fit in the same places as a solvent cement fitting of the same diameter.
Made in USA
Like all Charlotte Pipe products, ConnecTite fittings are made in the USA.
Design Technology
Patented Lock Ring & Seal
A | Patented lock ring ensures connection is secure
B | Rubber gasket creates a tight seal

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How long do I have to wait after installing ConnecTite fittings to use my plumbing system?
Because there are no solvent cements or adhesives, ConnecTite fittings do not have any cure time. As a result, you can begin using your plumbing system immediately after installing ConnecTite fittings.
-
What must I do to prepare the end of the pipe before connecting it to a ConnecTite fitting?
After cutting the pipe square, you should sand the outside end of the pipe with the provided sponge in order to remove any burrs and to create a bevel to make insertion easier. In order to make it easier to insert the pipe, apply liquid soap to the end of the pipe.
-
What are the benefits of not using primer and solvent cement?
- Eliminates the use of volatile organic compounds
- Eliminates exposure to fumes from solvent cement
- Eliminates confusion over which solvent cement to use
- Eliminates the hazardous waste disposal of out-of-date cans of cement and primer
- Eliminates the waste of buying more primer or solvent cement than you need
- Eliminates the mess from spilling purple primer
-
What happens if you install a ConnecTite fitting and it is not properly aligned or does not have proper pitch?
With a ConnecTite fitting, you can simply twist the fitting into proper alignment. This is helpful when you are using a fitting with a bend (90-Degree Elbow, 45-Degree Elbow, or Sanitary Tee). If you have a misaligned fitting with solvent cement, the only option you have is to cut out the joint and start completely over.
-
What happens if you realize that the pipe you use with a ConnecTite fitting is too long after you make the connection?
If pipe is cut too short or too long, you can remove the pipe from the ConnecTite fitting, cut your pipe to the correct length, and then reuse the same ConnecTite fitting up to three times. Again, with solvent cement, your only option is to cut out the joint and start completely over.
-
Can I use ConnecTite fittings with ABS pipe?
Yes. ConnecTite fittings are compatible with both ABS and PVC pipe.
-
Can ConnecTite joints be taken apart?
Yes. All you have to do is simultaneously twist and pull the pipe and fitting apart. Unlike push-fit pressure fittings, ConnecTite fittings do not require a tool for reversal.
-
Are ConnecTite fittings made in the USA?
Yes. Like all Charlotte Pipe products, ConnecTite fittings are made in the USA.
-
What keeps pipe from coming out of a ConnecTite fitting?
The metal lock ring in the ConnecTite fitting bites into the pipe and prevents it from backing out of a ConnecTite fitting.
-
Can ConnecTite fittings be installed in pressure applications?
No. ConnecTite fittings can only be used in DWV applications. They should never be used for any pressure applications.
-
How can I be sure that ConnecTite fittings are reliable?
ConnecTite fittings are certified by NSF to meet the requirements of ASME A112.4.4, as well as IAPMO IGC 334. In addition, ConnecTite fittings are certified by IAPMO to meet the requirements of IAPMO IGC 334.
-
How can plumbing professionals and DIYers confirm that a push-fit DWV fitting has met the requirements of ASME A112.4.4 and IAPMO IGC 334?
Check the engraving on the fitting for “NSF® dwv” and the UPC Shield. Also, you can search for listings to these standards at https://info.nsf.org/Certified/Plumbing/ and https://pld.iapmo.org/.
-
Do ConnecTite fittings meet relevant plumbing code requirements?
In UPC jurisdictions, ConnecTite fittings manufactured to ASME A112.4.4 are approved for use with ABS and PVC pipe in underground and aboveground drain, waste, and vent pipe and fittings as well as building sewer applications per 2021 UPC, Table 701.2
In IPC jurisdictions, ConnecTite Fittings manufactured to ASME A112.4.4 are approved for use with ABS and PVC pipe in underground and aboveground drainage as well as building sewer applications per 2021 IPC, Table 702.4 Pipe Fittings as well as sections 705.2.4 and 705.10.4.
In addition, ConnecTite fittings are permitted to be used at the discretion of the code official. The model plumbing codes have provisions for approval of new products that are not yet specifically referenced in the codes (UPC Section 301.3 and IPC Section 105.2).
